City of Campbell Recreation

Campbell Kiwanis Club: The Campbell Kiwanis have contributed greatly to improving the lives of the residents of Campbell. They have played a major role in restoring trees previously lost to a fire on the Los Gatos Creek Trail. The Kiwanis have also helped to replace old picnic tables at a highly used park and renovated par course stations along the Los Gatos Creek Trail. The City of Campbell thanks the Kiwanis for all of their efforts towards making our city a better place to live.

Kathyrn Remick: Kathryn is very kind and willing to take on any assignment in our Theater. She always takes her job seriously and never gives in to the temptation of watching the show while she is supposed to be watching the audience; she is there to serve. She’s always upbeat and friendly with everyone.

Kenny Hom : Kenny has been a mainstay on the Campbell Heritage Theatre since our very first show. He is very patron-oriented and stays calm under all situations. On more than one occasion his keen eyes have spotted patrons taking illegal flash photographs and he confronted them swiftly with great calm and patience.

City of MillBrae

LaVerne Seiler : Although officially LaVerne volunteers as the Millbrae Senior Center’s receptionist every Thursday, she is functionally the Senior Center Director’s right hand. She is at the center daily to help out in anyway she can and is always available in a pinch to get things done. LaVerne is always happy to help set-up the Friday Brown Bag Program, the Pedro Tournament, special events, as well as Senior Newsletter mailing and driving her fellow seniors. Without a doubt, LaVerne is an amazing woman that makes everyone around her feel special.

William Bower : Bill is a positive asset at the Millbrae Senior Center where he has served the community for more than ten years. While he is prized for being a Jack-of-all-Trades, he is treasured for his kindness and thoughtfulness. No job too big or too small for Bill Bower. You can see him regularly setting up, preparing and serving lunches as well as helping out at special events. He also drives seniors that can’t drive. It is an honor to honor him for his tireless contributions to Millbrae.

City of Mountain View

David Gannon : David joined the Shoreline volunteer staff in 2002 as a Gatehouse Ranger. Since then David has ventured out as a patrolling Ranger and was trained as a Docent due to his positive attitude and willingness to help whenever needed. He filled in on a regular basis over the summer and has been known to substitute on very short notice. In addition to his talents as a Docent and Ranger, he has also helped staff with habitat enhancement. Thank you David for all your help as a volunteer Ranger, Docent, and Laborer. The Shoreline at Mountain View community appreciates your help.

Ralph Bernstein : Ralph has been a volunteer at Shoreline Golf Links in Mountain View since 1983. Over the past 22 years, Ralph has volunteered for several Course Managers and 8 Golf Professionals. He has been a course marshal, a starter, a greeter, a committee member, a youth counselor and an all around good person. His service to Shoreline Golf Links is greatly appreciated and it is the City’s privilege to honor Ralph this evening.

Mildred Garcia : Mildred is one volunteer who consistently sets the example to all by providing exceptional service. During the renovation on the Community Center, Mildred not only continued to work her regular hours, after being moved to a new office, but she also provided extra hours to the Clerical unit. The City of Mountain View is honored and privileged to have Mildred Garcia as a volunteer

Edward Snively : Over the past 23 years, Ed has contributed over 2,000 volunteer hours. For fifteen of those years he has been a teaching docent. In the last 8 years with Deer Hollow Farm, Ed has single-handedly maintained and harvested 27 fruit trees in the orchard while sustaining the historical and educational value of the land. City of San Carlos

Ken Anderson : Over the past couple of years Ken has offered his time, energy, and compassion to the Healthy Cities Tutoring program. The students love to work with Ken. He has a certain magical quality when he reads the class a story. They can feel his genuine guidance and seem to feel very safe around him. Recently Ken gave homemade hand-woven personalized Christmas ornaments to everyone in the class. This experience touched the hearts of the students as well as the teachers in the room. The City of San Carlos is honored to have Ken as a volunteer.

Anita Rashleger : Anita developed and implemented a monthly social program at San Carlos Adult Center to meet the needs of the users. Due to a reduction in a lunch program, Anita felt that there was still a need to give participants another chance for social interaction if they could not attend the lunches. “Coffee chat” is a monthly social program that Anita coordinates, markets, and schedules. The City of San Carlos is honored to have Anita as a volunteer.

Forbes King : With his history of active volunteerism in his community Forbes was voted Citizen of the year in 2000. He is 94 years old and currently tutors children in the Healthy Cities Program as well as many other things. Forbes is tireless in his efforts to provide service wherever he can in his community. He discovered his free time could be put to good use by “getting active and helping others.” The City of San Carlos is grateful for his many contributions. Every day Forbes enriches the lives of those around him.

Donna has presented papers at the local, state, national, and international conferences and authored papers in several publications on archaeology and rock art, including some that focused on Chitactac-Adams Park. The County of Santa Clara is proud to have Donna as a volunteer.

Mike Flaugher : Mike decided to adopt a stretch of the four-mile-long Penitencia Creek trail about three years ago. He soon realized the trail was in need of far more than routine litter pick-ups. Mike gathered community support as well as research and then contacted the appropriate agencies that had jurisdiction over the land. Mike has since put in over 1,500 hours, removed over 5,000 pounds of trash, and put in nearly $500 of his own money. His accomplishments include removing graffiti, helping build fences, painting a bridge, and countless other improvements to the trail. Pedestrians, students, and bicyclists now use the trail daily because of Mike’s vision. It is a great honor to have Mike as a volunteer.
