MENTORSHIP / OUTREACH PROGRAM
Many of our university students have little contact with professionals in the field and have no affiliation with California Park and Recreation Society (CPRS). Designed to address the needs of students, young professionals and leisure professionals, the Mentorship/Outreach Program is an avenue for professionals and students to connect.
As a professional in the Mentor Program, you are invited to provide students with professional guidance, assisting them with learning how to expand their networking skills, and sharing your expertise. The Mentor Committee requests that mentors commit to a minimum of 1 academic year, meet in person a minimum of once a month, and contact the student by phone twice per month. In addition, at the conclusion of the program, mentors are asked to attend a celebration / evaluation meeting, and provide a brief written evaluation on the student and Mentor program.
The Mentorship Committee encourages you to take advantage of this great participatory program. Your role is vital to the continuation and growth of our profession as we embark upon the demanding new issues we face in the 21st century. Not only will it enhance the educational experience for our future professionals, it will add a boost of fun and energy to each and every person who participates.
Interested mentors and mentees can obtain application packets below which can be mailed to Elaine Porter, South San Francisco Department of Recreation and Community Services, 33 Arroyo Drive, South San Francisco, CA 94080.
