What Is YTRS and Why Does It Work?
Youth and Teen Recreation Services (YTRS), a subcommittee of CPRS District IV, consists of Bay Area Recreation Professionals who work to create positive and innovative youth programming. The members collaborate to leverage resources, exchange ideas and best practices, seek networking possibilities and ideas, share training and funding opportunities, and offer mentorship to participating members.

YTRS brings together representatives from approximately 30 cities throughout the Bay Area. The subcommittee formed in 1985, unified by the vision of creating communities through people, parks and programs. YTRS members share ------many years of experience in event planning, youth center operations, sports and other specialized
youth and teen programming.

The roots of YTRS date back to 1979, when several Recreation Professionals formed BATS, Bay Area Teen Services. This group, which focused primarily on Recreation Leader training and school age programming, eventually morphed into YTRS.

In addition to monthly collaborative meetings, YTRS members are responsible for planning and implementing a youth conference called “YAC Attack, THE GREAT GATHERING”.

By following through on commitments, maintaining constant communication, and presenting successful YAC Attack Conferences, committee members have established strong relationships with one another.
